07/18/2010 - Atlanta, GA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Brian McCann hit his sixth career grand slam and drove in five to lead the Braves in an 11-6 win and split of a four-game series with Milwaukee at Turner Field.
Matt Diaz also homered, knocked in three and scored twice during a 3-for-4 afternoon. Omar Infante collected four hits with two RBI and two runs scored for the Braves, who had dropped three of four since winning four straight.
Derek Lowe (10-8) did enough for the win in 5 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits. He had dropped his previous three starts.
Rickie Weeks homered twice to set a Brewers record for home runs in a season by a second baseman with 17 -- also a new career best. He ended 3-for-4 with a walk and scored three times.
Prince Fielder added a solo home run, his 22nd on the year, and drove in two, while Ryan Braun had three hits and an RBI for Milwaukee, which had won five of six coming in.
Manny Parra (3-7) was slammed for 10 hits and 10 runs in 5 1/3 innings to suffer his fourth loss in the last six decisions.
Atlanta was already up 2-1 going into the third inning where the hosts broke it open with a five-run frame. Parra walked Martin Prado to start and Jason Heyward and Infante singled to bring Prado around to score.
Troy Glaus walked to load the bases and McCann lifted an 0-2 fastball just over the right-field wall for a 7-1 difference.
"Anytime you get the bases loaded you want to get a big hit with less than two outs. I was lucky enough to get an 0-2 pitch that I know the pitcher didn't want to put it there, but I capitalized on it," McCann said. "Everybody hit today, it was a great team effort. Everybody worked the count, took what the pitcher gave us and were able to score some runs."
Diaz took Parra out to left in the fifth to extend the lead before the Brewers got two back in the next inning as Weeks led off with his second homer of the game to straight-away center and Fielder knocked in Braun with a single.
"We didn't get the job done but I thought we played good baseball. Sometimes it goes that way, but we have something to build off of. We got another great team over there (Atlanta) and we split with them," Weeks said.
The Braves, though, put the game out of reach for good with three more in the home sixth.
Parra exited after putting two of the first three batters on base and David Riske came on to allow an RBI single to Infante, then hit Glaus with a pitch to load the bases. McCann drew a walk to force in Heyward and Diaz ripped a base hit to center for an 11-3 affair.
Milwaukee attempted to rally late, but the deficit proved too much. Jesse Chavez served up a leadoff homer to Fielder in the eighth and Corey Hart scored Lorenzo Cain with a sacrifice fly in the ninth. Braun followed with a double to score Weeks and Billy Wagner was called upon to get the final two outs of the game.
Weeks led off the game with a blast to center field, but Atlanta quickly went in front on a Diaz run-scoring double and Melky Cabrera's RBI groundout in the second.

Kurt Warner to start, Matt Leinart to watch
Despite the debate that's swirling , Kurt Warner will remain the starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, coach Dennis Green said today. The Arizona Cardinals are the +7 point underdog at online sportsbook MySportsbook.com for this Sunday's game.
Green's comment came in a statement released by the team following an ESPN report that Green decided that rookie Matt Leinart would replace Warner as starter for Sunday's game at Atlanta.
"Generally talking about the starting lineup is not something we do," Green told the AP. "However, given the speculation that was out there we want to make it clear. We're disappointed after last week, but we still expect to be a playoff football team and we fully expect Kurt Warner to be the quarterback that leads us. That has not changed."

The most popular sports to bet on are NFL and college football along with NBA and NCAA basketball. There are multiple betting opportunities within those sports, beginning with the basic wager on a game’s outcome (also called betting the side). College Football Point spreads are used in both football and basketball in an attempt to even the attractiveness of each team in a match-up. ( See our article detailing how and why point spreads are made)
But you could also simply bet on the money line, or straight-up winner of the game. Oddsmakers use the money line so that more money must be risked on the favorite or expected winner and less money on the underdog to balance the action on both sides. While money line gambling is an attractive option for football and basketball bettors who only care about picking a winner, it is the primary option for those bettors who enjoy wagering on MLB baseball and individual sports like boxing, tennis, golf and racing events such as NASCAR. ( More details on playing the Money Line)
Another bet across all major team sports including football, basketball, baseball, and hockey involves wagering on the amount of scoring in a game, called an Over/Under total. For example, the Over/Under total on Super Bowl XXXIX was 48, which means a bettor could wager whether there would be more or less than 48 points scored by both teams combined in the game.
The final score of Super Bowl XXXIX was 24-21; the scoring of both teams added up to 45, which means the game went Under . So Under bettors won, and Over bettors lost.
Sports gambling doesn’t end there. Betting sides and totals are the most common wagers available everywhere, but many sportsbooks also offer future bets on big upcoming events like who will win next year’s Super Bowl and what movie will win Best Picture at the Academy Awards.
The main advantage of futures is that you can get appealing odds by betting far in advance. For example, with NFL futures you often can get much higher odds on a team by betting before the season even starts. A NFL future bet on a team to win the Super Bowl odds might be 20/1 in the preseason; but by midseason, their odds might decrease to 10/1 if they turn out to be legitimate championship contenders.
Involves one individual wager, whether it be on your team to cover the point spread, to win the game straight-up on the money line, or to go over/under the total.
