New England (4-9-2) went up two just eight minutes later when a Shalrie Joseph shot from distance was deflected in the six-yard box by Sainey Nyassi. Ricketts got his fingertips on the shot to deflect it off the post, but Nyassi pounded the rebound home for his second goal of the season.

The revs will aim to build on the bounce-back win at Philadelphia on July 31 in their next MLS fixture, while the galaxy will aim to rebound next Sunday at D.C. United.

Note: The Galaxy played the game without U.S. national team star Landon Donovan, who was being rested after his participation in the World Cup.
